As we make our way north to Santiago, the cities are getting bigger and less touristy. No more “urban camping”. It’s harder to figure out how to get around, where to go, and where not to go. So we decided to try CouchSurfing. Sure enough, on our first attempt we met an awesome guy, Felix, who has been a fabulous guide in this university town. We’ve spent a lot of time hanging out with him, his family, housemates and neighbors. We’ve been treated to great food and wine, music and movies. A nice break from the grind of traveling and the first time we’re really, really using our Spanish. We spent the last two nights in Yumbel, where Felix and his housemates are from. We likely be in Concepción through the weekend and then continue heading north. That is if we decide to leave — this has been such a wonderful experience! I hope that we’re able to find a student/young professional house like this to live in when we get to Buenos Aires.
